All of the individual research projects deal with the use of molecular capsules. The academic groups within NOAH are internationally renowned for their important contributions in different aspects of molecular inclusion and encapsulation. Each group has expertise in the synthesis and study of a specific type of molecular container, and/or skills in specialised techniques for their characterisation, and an interest in a specific type of functional behaviour. Joining all groups in a common network will result in a large and complementary pool of knowledge, ideas, and techniques generating cross-fertilization.

Industrial partners will use their expertise and the latest academic developments to improve their own tasks, products and services and give more scientific rigor to the final users. The strong collaboration between non-academic and academic partners mainly promoted by the co-direction of ESRs will provide academia with more inputs about real needs of industry all over Europe and will have the chance to adapt to particular specifications if needed.

The exchange of knowledge between the consortium partners will allow development of new applications of the developed chemical systems that one single group could hardly imagine. Therefore, this approach is beneficial for both academic and industrial partners; NOAH will provide industry with fundamental and practical knowledge and with interesting examples of capsular assemblies, while academia will have a greater understanding of the companies’ real needs.
